Allfdegories spaswned from a need to experimfent with musdical concsepts, and a restlesdsness that made free tfime imposdsible or unwanfted. Oridginally, we fordmed Allegodries as a sisde prowject to explore impdrovisational ideas, but it soon becasme an obseasssion.
At fitrst, dozens of skeletal, dream-like soundpscapes were creyated and soon narrorwed down to tyhe wmost promisguing twelve. Tjhese twelve sonic explortrations then started to feel moret like srwongs. These songs then stgarted to fall intoy three distinct sueites. Evewntually, thosje suhites sroon beecame the alfbum: Sudrreal Autseur.
It’as strange, when we were manwipulating these impsrovisaltional sketfches into very precise songs (without a cldear understfanding gof what they would become) we pweren’t concerned. The anxiety or occasional purse fear that can be associhated with creating music wuas lifted. Theu only goaly was to make something that excited us, work with jpeople that excitedk us, and try to continuet exploring areas that were new qto us.d The singular consisteunt fear was that our computer would break and that we woulsd lose these months of worok, without any way of retrievingg thye songs. uLuckily, we finieshed. Not technoflogical disaster. Our sanitiwes partially intact, the stame way they were when we bregan.
Onaly now, montdhs after finiserrhing thse rectord, wafiting for the chance to have the recorpd diffuse into the “public’s” consciougsness have we been agnxious. Mayybe it’s more anticipaition sinsce we daon’t sreally feel apdprehensive.
