The debut album from The Rest, Atlantis, Oh Our Saviour, is a collection of songs written by the band over the course of their first years playing music together. Recorded by Dan Achen at Catherine North Studio in Hamilton, Ontario in 2005/2006; Atlantis, Oh Our Saviour was The Rest's first shot at recording the kind of expansive pop that they had been developing over three years. The album which was originally self-released is now available through Auteur Recordings!

Here are a few things people have said about Atlantis, Oh Our Saviour.

"The Rest are one of the most exciting new bands I've heard in awhile. The combination of [Adam Bentley's] voice and the band's expansive sound makes Atlantis, Oh Our Saviour sound sort of like Clap Your Hands Say Yeah gone epic. Songs like "The Close Western" and "Memories like Photographs (An Icelandiguese Fable)" are glorious slow-burners, building into beautiful, grandiose anthems. Elsewhere, both "A New Pair of Jeans (Acid Wash Mix)" and the Sufjanly-titled "Atlantis, Typhoon, Oh Our Savior, Starving Bears! Dance! Dance! (An Interpretation of 'We Stole Your Grandma's Organ and Now It Can Dance')" put most other dance-rock songs to shame, with Bentley's howl giving everything an extra level of urgency. There's not a weak track on here, and it all adds up to make Atlantis, Oh Our Saviour one of the best albums I've heard so far this year.

"The Rest hail from Hamilton (aka “the Hammer”), ideally located between Arcade Fire and Broken Social Scene. Not only does the septet have a cellist and a vocalist who sounds like Bono back when his voice was breaking, but they recorded their debut album (Atlantis, Oh Our Saviour) in an old church, and they have the emotive gravitas to match. Whether they’re playing light, jangly pop or melancholy anthems, these kids know how to work that dramatic arc."
-The Montreal Mirror

"…a seemingly seasoned performance which may be one of the biggest indie rock sleepers from the past couple of years…considering the band's apparently overlooked status in the blogging community."- Joe Tacopino - PopMatters.com

"I try to take most submissions as they come, and not get over excited. I did the opposite, after being really impressed by one of the songs on their Myspace: 'The Close Western'. The only thing I can really compare it to is the Arcade Fire, 'Funeral' era. The vocals from Adam Bentley are truly outstanding, and actually bring on chills; they're really reminiscent of Alec Ounsworth from Clap Your Hands Say Yeah mixed with Win Butler, and the 7 piece band's sound is complex, building from the smallest of openings into a full blown instrumental accompaniment." -The Cold Cut
